Miko has an extensive background in theatre as Artistic Director of Theatre of Yugen, an Artistic Associate who helped start Red Ladder Theatre Company, and as Producing Associate at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Some of the other theatres she has worked at include: The Public Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, Seattle Repertory Theatre, South Coast Repertory Theatre, Amherst’s New WORLD Theatre, Boston’s Huntington Theatre, California Shakespeare Festival, Marin Shakespeare Festival, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and American Conservatory Theatre.
She has studied dance and mask making in Bali, Indonesia with Ida Bagus Anom and Japanese Kyogen and Noh with Yuriko Doi.

Storyteller
Miko has performed storytelling all over the state of California. She toured for over a year in Sadako and 1000 Cranes and told Asian folktales and original stories at hundreds of schools and community centers.

Children’s Theatre
At Youth in Arts, Miko wrote, directed and produced original theater with award winning author/illustrators Molly Bang, Peggy Rathmann and Elisa Kleven. She adapted Rathmann’s Goodnight Gorilla, into a jazz musical with composer Dee Spencer. Miko wrote, directed and choreographed Paper Princess and the Piñata based on Elisa Kleven’s Paper Princess series and Hooray a Piñata!
